Laura Romeo (born May 3, 1994, B.E. 2017, M.S. 2019) is an Automation Engineer at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR), in the Institute of Intelligent Industrial Technologies and Systems for Advanced Manufacturing (STIIMA).
She received the B.E. and M.S. degrees, cum laude, in Automation Engineering from Polytechnic of Bari, Italy, in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
She did the internship for M.S. degree at the CNR from March to July 2019, and she discussed the Master’s Degree thesis entitled “Design and experimentation of a robotic system for the automatic installation of an Internet of Things network in outdoor scenarios”. In this work, an automatic deployment of a 6TiSCH network has been developed. Specifically, an Unmanned Ground Vehicle has been used to autonomously look for the best deploying position for the IoT sensors in outdoor contexts.
Since October 2019, she works as a Research Fellow in the Institute of Intelligent Industrial Technologies and Systems for Advanced Manufacturing of the National Research Council of Italy, where she joined the Intelligent, Sensing and Perception (ISP) group. She has been involved in various project and scientific works concerning computer vision, artificial intelligence, and implementation of robotic systems through ROS.
Currently, she is working on the BESIDE project, which aims to apply AI for gait analysis and behavior of patients with neurodegenerative diseases, and she is always interested in new challenges.
